Action Alert: Contact Your Representative Today to Support Farm to School FRESH Grant Funding!

Contact your representative TODAY and ask them to co-sponsor amendment # 1129 to level fund Food Literacy and the Farm to School FRESH Grant Program in the FY2025 budget .

On Wednesday, April 10th, the House Ways and Means Committee released their FY25 budget and it unfortunately did not include funding for the Farm to School FRESH Grants. Representative Vargas filed an amendment to sustain funding for the FRESH Grant program in the FY25 budget (Amendment #1129). We need YOUR help to build support for this amendment by asking your Representative to co-sponsor the amendment. Read more about the FRESH Grant program.

  • "Hello, I'm a constituent from [your town] and I am calling today to ask you to sustain food literacy and farm to school program funding within the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in the FY25 budget.

Farm to School funding would expand the competitive FRESH grant program established with ARPA funding. During the first two rounds of applications for the FRESH grant, DESE received over $4M in requests for the $1M in available funding. Please support level funding of $1 million for food literacy and the FRESH Grant program in the FY25 budget to help more schools and early education and care centers provide students with healthy, locally grown foods in school meals and food education while supporting new markets for our farmers and fishermen.”

Thanks for your help sustaining farm to school programs across the Commonwealth. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
